Randy Ives
Senior Vice President
Randy Ives is Senior Vice President of Hawkeye Gold LLC, which is a wholly owned division of Hawkeye Renewables, LLC. Randy is intimately familiar with nationwide agricultural processing co-product markets. After receiving his B.S. in Agriculture from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Randy joined AG Processing, Inc., a major soy processing company. Experiences gained during those eight years have been highly useful in developing a winning marketing strategy for ethanol co-products. Randy began his ethanol career in 1994 with High Plains Corporation, and was strategic in the start up of ICM in 1995. Since then Randy and his team of merchandisers have developed an extensive network of animal feed ingredient business in regional US markets, and in the export arena, becoming the largest marketer of distillers in the US.

Under Randy’s leadership, Hawkeye Gold will develop into a high-volume retail merchandising operation with services ranging from feed ingredient sales, logistics, fleet management, and quality control to risk management through hedging, market forecasting, inventory management, and the carrying of accounts receivable.

Ryan Legrand
Export Marketing Manager
Ryan LeGrand recently joined the Hawkeye Gold team as the Domestic and Export Marketing Manager. Prior to joining Hawkeye, Ryan worked for one year at UBE Ingredients, LLC as their Director of Export Ingredient Sales and one year at the U.S. Grains Council in Washington D.C., where he served as a Manager of International Operations in charge of their world wide DDGS promotion program. Prior to the U.S. Grains Council he worked for 7 years at Garvey Processing, Inc. trading various feeds and feed ingredients to Latin America and Asia. Ryan received his B.S. in International Business from Oklahoma State University.

Ryan Sauer
Domestic Marketing Manager
Ryan Sauer began with Hawkeye Renewables in January 2006 overseeing the merchandising for the company-owned plants in Iowa Falls and Fairbank. Ryan has recently started with Hawkeye Gold as the Domestic Marketing Manager. Ryan previously worked 5 years at Cargill, Inc. in their oilseeds trading office in West Des Moines managing their Cedar Rapids crush facility trading soybeans and soybean meal. Prior to attending college, Ryan served 4 years with the U.S. Army overseas in Germany. Ryan received his B.S. in Agricultural Business from Iowa State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Iowa.

Byron Stewart
Director of Transportation and Logistics Services
Byron  joined Hawkeye Gold LLC as Director of Marketing and Transportation in August of 2007.  He was promoted to Director of Transportation and Logistics services in November 2007.  Byron has over 26 years of  transportation experience in agriculture including 10 years of merchandising experience.   He began his career with The Scoular Company in 1981, followed by ConAgra, Omaha, NE. and Feed Ingredient Trading Corp in Delmar, NY.  Byron joined United Bio Energy in Wichita, KS in August of 2004 as Director of Ingredient Trading and Transportation before joining Hawkeye.

Torrey Martin
Distillers Grain Merchandiser
Torrey is originally from Northeastern Iowa. Torrey graduated from South Dakota State University in Brookings SD. He had spent some time working for Harvest States coop in Southwestern MN before getting back to the great state of Iowa. Torrey also worked for Cargill oilseeds for the previous 6 years merchandising soybean meal. He joined the “Hawkeye” team in May of 2006.

Kelly S. Davis
Director of Customer and Technical Services
Kelly has over twenty five years of experience in ethanol production for fuel, industrial and beverage uses. Most recently at Chippewa Valley Ethanol Company as Quality Manager and VP of Marketing & Business Development for Glacial Grain Spirits, LLC. She has a BS in Chemistry from Marshall University. She is active in ASTM and is Chair of the Technical Committee for the Renewable Fuels Association.

Nathan Underwood
Distillers Grain Merchandiser
Nathan Underwood joined the Hawkeye Gold marketing team in January 2008.  Nathan received his B.S. in Agricultural Studies with a minor in Agronomy from Iowa State University in December 2007.  During his time at Iowa State, Nathan was involved in several organizations that promoted leadership development for young professionals involved in agriculture.  Nathan is also actively involved in his family farming operation in Northeast Iowa and is excited to be working directly with producers involved in production agriculture.

James Holz
Distillers Grains Merchandiser
James Holz joined the Hawkeye Gold merchandising group in May of 2008.  James received his B.S. in General Agriculture from South Dakota State University in May 0f 2008.  While at South Dakota State James was involved in numerous animal agriculture organizations, and judging teams.  James is also busy with their family farm and feedlot in central Iowa.  James is excited to meet and work with local animal producers.

Michael Borcherding

Michael joined the Hawkeye Gold team in April of 2008. Michael received his B.S in Agricultural Business from Iowa State University in May of 2007. During his time at Iowa State Michael was involved with many agricultural and student organizations on campus. Michael spent time in Council Bluffs, IA merchandising grain at a terminal elevator in Council Bluffs before moving back to Central Iowa. Michael is actively involved in livestock feeding and is looking forward to working with local livestock producers.
